An intervention co-created by University of Westminster Students and academics for secondary school students.

About
Us
The nutrition and public health courses at the University of Westminster designed with their staff and students a healthy lifestyle intervention for secondary school students.

Why ?
Adolescents do not meet their nutrition requirements and are heavily influenced by peers and online environment. By delivering these sessions through our students and co-creating we are aim to increase engagement and trust as our students are representatives of the community.
Our Aim
To bring together university students and schools in order deliver health and well-being sessions with a focus on nutrition to improve their understanding and establish long-term healthy habits.
Sessions Examples
-
Using games to help students understand nutrition information
-
Teach students how to differentiate between nutrition facts and fake information on social media
-
Visits to university labs/campus to have a more hands-on experience with some the information being taught

Phases
-
Symposium to listen to the needs of schools
-
Co-design educational interventions.
-
Working group of our students and alumnus will be created for the delivery of the sessions.
-
University of Westminster students will deliver the sessions in schools and on university campus.
-
School students will have an interactive experience and learn from people closer to them
-
Young people who learn healthy practices related to nutrition and exercise are also more likely to perform better academically, are healthier and are less prone to chronic diseases in adulthood (Kelder 1994).
-
It has been shown that health and well-being messengers that are trusted , trained and representative of the communities they serve, are more likely to be listened to.
